JANUARY
The board of directors met in January and recommended that
the dues for 2005 be the same as last year which is $20 for single member and $30 for family membership.
Several members of SARC attended the Pike-Butler County ARES Hamfest in Troy.
FEBRUARY
John and Larry WA4LR went to the EOC to look at the antennas. Plans are to work
on the HF antenna first then the VHF antenna.
MARCH
Several SARC members attended the Fort Walton hamfest March 19.
APRIL
Mr.Gary Beeler and an intern from NWS Mobile conducted a Severe Weather Spotter Class April 21 at 6PM
with a powerpoint media presentation. The 25 people from the local area in attendance gave good review of the
presentation. The Covington County EMA mailed certificates to all who signed the roster at the meeting.
MAY
Tim Trent KI4JDV was voted in as a member of the South Alabama Radio Club.
Club members made final preparations for Field Day to be held at Frank Jackson State Park in Opp, AL.
John has already written up the PSA (Public Service announcement) for the media sources for this year's Field Day Exercises
JUNE
South Alabama Radio Club held their Field Day Exercise at Frank Jackson
State Park. Club members made 376 contacts including DX entities in
Costa Rica and Antilles. Section Manager Greg Sarratt, W4OZK, Section Emergency
Coordinator Jay Isbell KA4KUN and Rebekah A Dorff, WG4Y visited the club
activities on their trip around Alabama Field Day sites..
JULY
The Covington County EOC was activated for Hurricane Dennis. John manned the EOC but was
requested to bring a backup battery in case of commercial mains failure. The Amateur radio room still
does not have emergency power at the EOC.
Marty Treadaway put up the new feed line and installed the lights on the tower for Joe. Joe installed
the connector on Monday. John has had reports from Montgomery, Milton and Enterprise. The repeater
sounds good from these directions. Pat and John worked on he generator at Joe's Shop on July 28.
Joe charged the batteries and replaced them.
SEPTEMBER
Election Committee was selected consisting of Larry Richards, Malcolm and Bart. They are to present
nominations for next year's officers at the October membership meeting.
Bart has asked to be relived from the trustee ship for the repeater. Bart suggested that we ask Joe Rose
to fill the position. Bart will keep his post as trustee for the club call sign only.
OCTOBER
A fall Picnic was planned for Open Pond. The date was set for October 15, 2005. Due to conflicts with several
club members, the date was rescheduled for November.
Plans were made to hold the SARC Christmas Party at Country Folks Buffet, Florala, AL. on December 9, 2005.
NOVEMBER
November 5th the SARC Fall picnic took place at the Open Pond Camping Area in the Conecuh National Forest.
Bob W5REand Margaret W5WAW, John KE4HIE,
Debra, KF4BOR and the Boys, Billy KE4UAD and his wife,
Claude KI4JDU and Pat KG4LNX camped out all weekend.
A good time was had by all.
DECEMBER
20 people attended the SARC Christmas Party at Country Folks Buffet in Florala. All enjoyed fellowship,
as well as the meal.
